Emily Kotajarvi, LMFT
Therapy for Teens & Adults in a LGBTQIA+ Safe Space in Madison, WI
Meet Emily
Hi, I’m Emily. I empower adolescents and adults to navigate and overcome obstacles using an integrative, strengths-based approach. I make a commitment with clients to strengthen their ability to identify the thoughts and behaviors that keep them from moving forward, so they can transform those patterns and develop new insight into their experiences.
Who I work with:
Teens and adolescents facing anxiety, school stress, or big life transitions
Neurodivergent teens and adults who want to feel understood
Adults working through anxiety, depression, or OCD
Military families navigating stress, moves, and life changes
LGBTQIA+ clients who want an affirming, judgment-free space
Young adults rebuilding self-esteem or facing a hard life change
My Approach & Style
I strive to help clients build positive, secure knowledge of themselves in order to improve their wellbeing and their relationships. I place great emphasis on open and honest communication, encouraging reflection on past successes and challenges, meaningful exploration of your story, and the formation of new skills. It truly is a privilege to support the people in my care in creating a space where they feel their story is heard and understood, and where they can see themselves as a whole, multidimensional person who not only faced challenges but grew from them.
