Celebrating 3 Years!

Modern Thrive Counseling was founded with the vision of creating a supportive and welcoming space—for both clients and therapists. From the beginning, our goal has been to integrate the mind, body, and spirit into every aspect of our clinical work and team culture.

We first opened our doors in May 2022 with just one therapist, Amy Harvat, working from a single cozy office and waiting area. Amy’s areas of expertise include women’s issues, anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, and couples therapy.

Thanks to the dedication of our providers and the strength of our community network, Modern Thrive Counseling grew rapidly. In 2023, we expanded into a larger office suite on Biltmore Lane, which provided space for additional team members and a more comfortable environment for our clients. This new location included two offices, a conference room with large windows, and a private entrance.

That same year, Nicole joined our team in June, bringing her expertise in ADHD, adoption, couples counseling, and family therapy. Her compassionate, heart-centered approach instantly resonated with clients.

As client needs continued to grow, we renovated the office suite in the fall of 2023, adding two more offices and a spacious waiting room. This upgrade allowed us to offer four offices and a dedicated area for group therapy and workshops.

In January 2024, Alexis joined our team with specialties in OCD, anxiety, depression, perinatal mental health, and support for military families. That same month, Kelly came on board as our intake and benefits coordinator—playing an essential role in supporting our operations and serving as the first point of contact for many clients beginning their therapeutic journey.

By the summer of 2024, our team had grown again to include two clinical interns and another provider, prompting our move to a larger seven-office suite on Biltmore Lane.

In October 2024, Jeremy joined us, offering his wealth of experience in adolescent mental health, support for new fathers, and guidance for couples navigating challenging transitions and communication hurdles.

February 2025 brought two more incredible additions: Sarah, who specializes in religious/spiritual trauma, existential exploration, depression, anxiety, OCD, grief, life transitions, perfectionism, ADHD, and body image; and Nicole, who offers support in women’s issues, self-esteem, relationship challenges, breakups/divorce, and major life transitions such as college and career changes.

Looking ahead to summer 2025, we’re excited to welcome two more clinicians: Emily, who will focus on serving the LGBTQIA+ community, military families, and clients ages 14 and up; and Karoline, who specializes in supporting adolescent girls, military families, and those living with OCD.

At Modern Thrive Counseling, we are committed to providing quality mental health care to the Madison community through person-centered, compassion-focused therapy.

Our Core Values

Compassion
Compassion is at the heart of everything we do. We believe it is cultivated through competence, confidence, and genuine connection. Our mission is to deeply understand our clients’ inner experiences, helping them feel truly seen and heard. In a world that often pressures people to hide or minimize their stories, we provide a space where those stories are honored and held with care. We believe that healing happens when individuals can be with what they feel, supported by clinically competent, confident, and connected therapists. Practicing self-compassion—through kindness, mindfulness, and shared humanity—helps heal the mind, body, and spirit. We encourage clients to embrace their inherent worth and navigate their challenges from a place of loving awareness.

Integrity
Integrity means staying true to who we are—both as individuals and as a practice. We are guided by our values, professional ethics, and commitment to consistent, ethical care. Our team models authenticity and honesty in every interaction, and we help clients cultivate their own sense of integrity and alignment with personal values.

Reverence
Reverence is the deep respect we hold for our clients’ stories, struggles, and strength. We approach each person with wonder, appreciation, and awe for the resilience of the human spirit. It is our honor to witness the courage and transformation that comes with healing. At Modern Thrive Counseling, we help clients rediscover reverence for themselves and their journey.

A Note of Gratitude

As we celebrate our three-year anniversary, we want to express our deepest gratitude to our clients, team members, and community who have helped make this dream a reality.

"Thank you to our team, our clients, and our families for believing in this vision. A special thank you to my husband—my hype-man, handyman, and strategic partner—who has stood by me since day one. To the incredible team of compassionate providers and professionals who helped make this practice come to life,I am endlessly grateful. I am so proud of what we’re creating at Modern Thrive Counseling, and I can’t wait to see where the next year takes us."
